Why Nashville?

Writer's picture: Courtney KeilCourtney Keil

The countdown is now on, it's only a matter of days until I jump on a plane to visit Nashville for the third time. Catch the details below on why I can't keep away from Music City!

Why Nashville?

As a city girl living in Melbourne Australia, Nashville couldn't have felt further away. I'd been dreaming of Music City for years, so the TV series ‘Nashville' couldn't have been launched at a better time to cement my desire to visit as soon as I could. I was intrigued about this country music meca halfway around the world.

Roll onto 2018 and I found myself in a position to  book my first trip to Nashville (Yay!) I planned to immerse myself in the city, get to know how it works and hopefully hear some great music - and boy I didn't leave disappointed. My first stop was to attend the NSAI (Nashville Songwriters Association International) Annual Songwriting Seminar, which is held in conjunction with the Tin Pan South Songwriters Festival. It’s the world's largest songwriters festival (according to the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corporation). During the Tin Pan South I got the opportunity to be up close and personal with some of the world’s best songwriters, those who have hit after hit accredited to their names and those on the verge of breaking through.

I was hooked, so I returned to Nashville in 2019. This time, not only did I  again attended the seminar, I also put my money where my mouth is  and worked in co-writing sessions on Music Row,  jumping into the writing rooms myself.

2020 Visit: What's Next?

This trip to Nashville I feel even more focused and am truly jumping in the deep end. The biggest goal for me for my time on the ground is to be writing as many great songs as possible, with as many great people as possible. I am so fortunate to be building some amazing friendships there and it doesn't take long for this city to accept you and welcome you with open arms.

One of the best things about this city is that music is all around you and in every move you make, finding myself surrounded by incredibly talented people.

I hope you stay on this exciting journey with me as there will be more updates to come.

See you soon Nashville! - CK

Nashville Tornado

If you have not seen or heard the news, this week Nashville and surrounding area was hit with devastating tornadoes killing at least 24 people, leaving thousands without power and many without a home as this extreme storm flattened houses and businesses. I have added a link below if you would like to donate to the rebuild and support the victims.
